Toivo Klaar, the European Union (EU) Special Representative for the South Caucasus and the Crisis in Georgia, believes that Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan’s upcoming visit to Turkey is historic.
“This is a historic visit following Armenia’s decision to support its neighbour in need. Hopefully a harbinger of developments to come in the Turkey-Armenia relationship,” Klaar wrote on Twitter.
Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan on Wednesday will leave for Turkey where he and Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu will meet. Also, the Armenian FM will meet with the rescue team from Armenia carrying out search and rescue operations in the city of Adiyaman affected by the powerful earthquakes that hit Turkey on February 6.
To note, Mirzoyan will be visiting Turkey for the second time during his tenure as the FM. In March 2022, he attended the Antalya Diplomacy Forum where he held talks with Turkish FM Cavusoglu.
