YEREVAN. – Armenian vine-growers are concerned over the factory purchase prices and acceptance conditions of grapes, Yerkir daily writes. According to vine-growers, several processing companies accept with the announced price solely particular types of grapes.

“The Vedi Alco and Great Valley companies have not yet started processing this year’s grapes. Yerevan Champagne and Wine Factory will commence accepting grapes next Monday. These companies also informed that they have not yet decided on their price policy.

“Avshar company informed it only accepts the harvest of those vine-growers with whom it has contracts. Mets Syunik Winery Enterprise said it accepts solely the Areni type grape from Aghavnadzor village of Vayots Dzor Region, and with a starting price of 220 drams (58 cents US)/kg. This year Yerevan’s “Ararat” Wine, Brandy and Vodka Factory will purchase above-18%-sugar-content grapes for 130 drams (34 cents)/kg, whereas the purchase price of less-sugar-content grapes will be determined on the spot.

MAP company informed that, in March, it had signed contracts with vine-growers, with a purchase price of 130 drams/kg, and payments will be made within 2-3 months. Proshyan Brandy Factory accepts black and white grapes for 130 drams/kg and 120 drams (32 cents)/kg, respectively. The Factory does not accept grapes with 18% sugar content,” Yerkir writes.
