YEREVAN.- Present sugar price which is accepted as base price while paying custom duties is in conformity with international prices, said head of Armenian State Commission for the Protection of Economic Competition Artak Shaboyan.

Asked whether 20% increase in sugar prices was justified, Shaboyan said it was conditioned by rise in base price.

As Armenian News-NEWS.am reported earlier, sugar went up in price dramatically in Armenia over a day jumping from less than $1(AMD 350) to $1.23 (AMD 450).
