YEREVAN. – Armenia’s Special Investigation Service ended its probe of the criminal proceedings launched into the selling of drugs by a police officer, and the prosecutor confirmed the indictment.

The investigation revealed that, in November 2010,  Police Lieutenant Stepan Tonoyan sold to N. Igityan, by way of offering, a considerable amount of marijuana. In January-February 2011, Tonoyan sold Methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA or “Ecstasy”) to N. Igityan and N. Margaryan, and, on March 11, 2011 he sold large amount of marijuana to R. Khachatryan.  

In addition, Stepan Tonoyan’s brother Sergey, who worked as Head of Avan Territorial Division of Armenian State Committee of Real Estate Cadastre, grew cannabis, between August 2010 and May 2011, from which he prepared large quantities of marijuana.       

In person, and also by way of his girlfriend, Sergey sold this marijuana to different people. Based on evidence obtained during investigation, Police Lieutenant Stepan Tonoyan and Sergey Tonoyan have been charged, and the criminal case is sent to court, Armenian Prosecutor General’s Office Press Service informed Armenian News-NEWS.am.
