YEREVAN. – 2011 census in Armenia will get underway on October 12. and on that occasion, census’ Nationwide Preparation Commission session convened on Monday. The meeting, chaired by Commission Chairman, Deputy PM, and Regional Governance Minister Armen Gevorgyan, discussed the course of preparations for the census.     

During the session, National Statistical Service President Stepan Mnatsakanyan presented a brief summary of the activities already carried out, Regional Governance Ministry Press Service informed Armenian News-NEWS.am.

In his turn, Armen Gevorgyan thanked local and international organizations, for their assistance to this process, and to Armenian Apostolic Church, for its readiness to assist in awareness activities. He also noted that necessary conditions are secured to conduct the census in a normal fashion and expressed a hope that it would be held in an organized manner.
