YEREVAN. – There are no changes at the landslide zone in Armenia’s Tavush Region. Search & rescue is continuing, and more rescuers have joined the activities, Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES) Press Service informed Armenian News-NEWS.am. 15 people from Ayrum railway station are also working at the site.   

With the assistance of an MOD helicopter and a mobile railway crane, the rescuers on Tuesday removed 9 passenger cars from the landslide zone. And as of October 5 at 8:00 a.m., there is no change in list of the missing. These 5 people are still declared missing: Armen Sorsumatyan (Yerevan resident, born in 1973), Mekhak Sorsumatyan (Yerevan resident, born in 1964), Norik Mirzoyan (Lchkadzor village resident, born in 1939), Arthur Hakobyan (Georgian citizen, born in 1992), and Gurgen Hakobyan (Georgian citizen, born in 1949).    

MES Crisis Control Center’s hotline numbers are: 010-52-96-90, 010-36-02-97, 060 44 02 38.As Armenian News-NEWS.am informed earlier, on October 2, a landslide occurred at Vanadzor-Bagratashen section—nearby Ayrum railway station’s bridge and close to Lchkadzor village—of M6 Interstate Highway. The 130-meter-long and 60-meter-deep terrain covered the road, rendering it completely impassable. Around 35 vehicles had remained under terrain.
