A tragic road accident took place in Gegharkunik Province of Armenia, shamshyan.com reports.

Around 2pm, a car went off road on the Yerevan-Sevan-Ijevan motorway, in the Gagarin village area, and ended up upside down in a field after rolling around 20 meters several times.

As a result, one person died on the spot and one person sustained injuries and was transferred to the Sevan city medical center.

The deceased was found outside the car.

A criminal investigation has been launched into this incident.

Several persons assembled at the scene said that the cause of this road accident was a gross violation of the traffic laws by another car and its creating an accident situation for the aforesaid car, after which that car had fled the scene. And there were a father and son in the vehicle that had the accident. The father was taken to the hospital, whereas his son died on the spot.

The police patrol service and the investigation department are finding out the identity of the deceased and the injured, as well as who the driver was.
