Board of trustees of the "Matenadaran" Mesrop Mashtots Research Institute of Ancient Manuscripts Foundation of Armenia unanimously elected Ara Khzmalyan as the new director of the Matenadaran. Armenian News-NEWS.am learned about this from the news department of the Matenadaran.

On June 26, the board of trustees of the "Matenadaran" foundation had announced an open competition for the election of the new director of the Matenadaran.

Karen Matevosyan, Acting director of the Matenadaran; Ara Khzmalyan, Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of Armenia; and Artsruni Sahakyan, Doctor of Historical and Philological Sciences and a researcher at the Matenadaran, had applied for the vacancy of the Matenadaran director.

But later, Sahakyan withdrew, and the contest for this position was going on between Matevosyan and Khzmalyan.
