Speaker of the Republic of Armenia National Assembly (RA NA), Alen Simonyan, on Wednesday received newly appointed French Ambassador Olivier Decottignies, the NA informed.
First, Simonyan congratulated the ambassador on assuming the responsible position, expressing conviction that the diplomat will make maximum efforts to deepen the relations between the two countries.
The RA NA speaker noted that the new French ambassador started his activities in Armenia very actively, which confirms the fact of his being a great friend of the country. In response, Decottignies stated that his first official visit was to Syunik Province, which contains an important message. The NA speaker, in turn, reaffirmed that France is a reliable partner of Armenia.
The active cooperation between the Armenian and French parliaments and the working visit of the RA NA speaker to Paris on July 10-13 were conferred about at the meeting.
Also, the interlocutors discussed the details of the security situation in Armenia’s region and exchanged views on the measures that need to be taken to overcome the Lachin crisis.
Both sides expressed willingness to continue further cooperation.
