YEREVAN. - Opposition Armenian National Congress (ANC) has reconciled with the thought of holding regular elections, ruling coalition’s Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) MP Hovhannes Sahakyan stated during a briefing with news reporters on Monday.
“ANC, the extra-parliamentary opposition, agrees that regular elections must be held, and this is uttered from the lips of their representatives,” Sahakyan noted.
He also maintained that domestic politics are on a normal course. “I believe there will be a normal pre-election period, with all its components, and everyone will be able to use the time to introduce their programs,” the MP argued.
According to Hovhannes Sahakyan, ANC’s daylong-rally tactic has failed, and independent MP Vardan Khachatryan also shared this view. “I believe the situation will be extremely tense, and the main players must be very careful so that the situation would not meet an impasse and an explosive situation would not come about,” Khachatryan predicted.
