The peace treaty between Armenia and Azerbaijan is not yet ready for signing, there is no final draft, but there is hope to finalize the text of the treaty at the meeting between the foreign ministers of the two countries expected in January. Edmon Marukyan, Ambassador-at-Large of Armenia, announced this on the air of Public Television of Armenia.

Marukyan said the return of 32 Armenian servicemen from Azerbaijani captivity was as a positive step towards strengthening the climate of trust between Armenia and Azerbaijan, and expressed hope that a peace treaty between the two countries can be reached with such small steps.

The ambassador-at-large of Armenia added, however, that all conditions noted in the tripartite statement of November 9, 2020 were no longer valid.

"There is a wrong impression that if the [peace] talks are going on in the US, Brussels or Moscow, then they are the guarantor; but this is not the case. The mechanism of the guarantor should be documented, all the conditions in case of a dispute arising between the parties should be noted therein," said Edmon Marukyan.
