YEREVAN. – Haykakan Zhamanak daily conducted an interview with Armenia’s Police Chief, Alik Sargsyan, and the following is an excerpt:

Mr. Sargsyan, we are receiving news of your dismissal. Do they correspond to reality?

They are calling me and saying [that], too; no one has officially said anything to me.

Have you not met with [President] Serzh Sargsyan? Have you not conversed?

I met [with him] today (Monday). I reported my tasks as usual, left normally; there is nothing. The situation is normal, peaceful; I have no such problem.

Who is circulating such news, and why?

I cannot give any answer. I am a normal serviceman. I will be with him (Serzh Sargsyan) until the end. I am not informed of anything. I am not someone who leaves the team. I will be with him and will properly serve until the end. I have neither the need nor the intention to move [and make] a new choice, nor will I ever be offended by him. Even if such thing were to happen, I am still satisfied, [and] grateful; the man always trusted me.
