make preferableISTANBUL. – A group of US Congress members have introduced a joint bill to the Congress that seeks to block the sale of weapons to Turkey.
In the bill, which is introduced by Congress members Shelley Berkely, Eliot Engel, and several others, it is noted that they are unhappy with Turkey for threatening US allies Israel, Armenia, and Cyprus, Zaman daily of Turkey reported.
“We are deeply concerned by Turkey’s increased saber rattling, its threats against Israel, its outlook toward the European Union, its occupation of Cyprus, and its unrelenting blockade of Armenia. The US should be busy raising these very serious concerns with Turkey, rather than selling arms to them,” the bill states.
The Turkish periodical claims this bill needs to be passed within eight days, but the Congress will go on vacation next week.
