YEREVAN. – Armenia’s newly appointed Police Chief Vladimir Gasparyan recently met with the road police and made a serious announcement, Zhoghovurd daily writes, referring to its reliable sources. 

“Gasparyan said from now on he will give his personal telephone number to the road police. He resorted to this measure to be able to supervise the law-breaking drivers who try to introduce themselves as a relative, or a friend, of the Police Chief. Furthermore, Gasparyan urged the road police officers to call him in the presence of his driver ‘friend,’ so he could personally be informed as to who gives out his name in order to avoid paying the legal fines. ‘We will put an end to the practice of giving out names,’ Gasparyan stated,” Zhoghovurd writes.
