YEREVAN. – In 2010, 3,068 people became victims of poisoning and 37 of them lost their lives, the Armenian National Statistical Service informs. And the number of those who suffer from poisoning is drastically growing.  

Also, the type of poisoning is changing in Armenia. In the case when most people were poisoned by alcohol, in the past, in 2010, however, drugs have become the number-one source of poisoning. So, 773 people were poisoned from drugs and 11 of them lost their lives, in 2010, whereas 755 people were poisoned by alcohol and 2 of them died.

As a rule, most people are poisoned from household materials: 515 cases, and 12 deaths (2010)

Furthermore, 372 people had food poisoning, and 5 of them died, in 2010.

People have also died as a result of natural gas poisoning, and other sources.
