Citizen of Armenia Sargis Tadevosyan, found guilty on charges of fraud with Medicare federal health insurance program, sued a motion for acquittal.

Tadevosyan demands that jury’s verdict should be overturned referring to lack of evidence against him. Besides, the defendant considers that the evidence was not sufficiently investigated, RIA Novosti reported referring to a copy of court documents at the disposal of infosud.ru.

The court found Tadevosyan guilty on November 3 but the verdict has not been delivered yet.

As Armenian News-NEWS.am reported earlier,  defendants in the case are citizens of Russia, Igor Shevchuk and Arsen Bejanyan and citizen of Armenia Sargis Tadevosyan. According to investigators, they have created several fictitious companies that have applied for medical insurance payments of approximately $3 million under Medicare federal program.

An investigation was launched in April 2011, while three criminals were arrested in early May. Earlier the judge refused to release them on bail fearing they would leave the country.

Earlier this month criminal boss Armen Kazarian, (nicknamed Pzo) charged with cheating Medicare out of $100 million, made a deal with prosecutors.

Kazarian pleaded guilty to making threats and other crimes in exchange for the light sentence.
