Environmentalists raise alarm over pollution of Armenia’s Lake Sevan

YEREVAN. – The EcoLur NGO and the “We Will Not Keep Silent” youth initiative of Armenia have released a joint statement.

In the announcement, they note that exploitation of the ore minerals of the Sotk Mine is polluting the waters of Sevan Basin.

“The ‘We Will Not Keep Silent’ youth initiative and the EcoLur NGO appeal to Nature Protection Minister, Aram Harutyunyan: You carry political responsibility for Sevan’s protection. You have the authority to punish the lawbreakers. The time has come,” the statement specifically reads.
