Both a certain increase and a decrease were recorded in Armenia in terms of exports and imports in January-March 2024. This was announced by Deputy Minister of Finance Vahan Sirunyan during the debates on the report on the implementation of Armenia’s state budget in the first quarter of 2024, at the meeting of the Standing Committee on Financial-Credit and Budgetary Affairs of the National Assembly on Friday.

Thus, the increase in the export of Armenian goods exceeded the indicators of the same period of 2023 by 2.7 times.

"Nevertheless, the export of goods of Armenian origin recorded a 14.3% drop," Sirunyan added.

The high growth was caused by the re-export of gold, the deputy minister noted. It is primarily about the UAE.

Separately, the increase in Armenia’s imports in January-March 2024 was 75.8%, compared to 2023.

But excluding the effect of re-exports, a 9.2% decline was actually recorded.
