A senior Hamas official, Osama Hamdan, said that no progress has been made in ceasefire talks with Israel over its war in Gaza, Al Jazeera reported.

Hamas remains ready to "look positively" at any ceasefire proposal that would end the war, Hamdan said at a press conference in Beirut.

Hamdan also said hunger continues to threaten the lives of Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, especially in Gaza City and northern areas, blaming Israel for not supplying food, water, medicine and fuel.

"Many international organizations have confirmed that the population of 2.3 million people in the Gaza Strip needs the delivery of at least 500 truckloads of humanitarian aid per day," Hamdan said, adding that since this number is not being reached, it means that the entire population of Gaza is now food insecure. He said 346,000 children under the age of five are malnourished, 50,400 children under the age of five are acutely malnourished, 160,000 pregnant and lactating mothers need extra food to avoid malnutrition.
