Former US President Donald Trump appeared alongside his newly announced running mate Senator J.D. Vance at the Republican Party National Convention on Monday night, marking Trump's first public appearance since a shocking attempt on his life, CBS News reported.

The crowd greeted Trump, whose ear was bandaged after being struck by a bullet Saturday at a rally in Pennsylvania.
Over the weekend, Trump posted on social media that he was considering postponing his trip to Milwaukee, noting that he “just decided I couldn't let a shooter or a potential assassin make a schedule change or anything.”

The former president announced on social media Monday that he had picked 39-year-old Ohio Sen. Jay Dee Vance as his vice presidential running mate.

Vance, according to a source, did not learn of his choice until 20 minutes before Trump made his selection public in a social media post. Trump and Vance were officially nominated by the National Convention on Monday.
