YEREVAN. – Armenian MOD Seyran Ohanyan received on Monday EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus and the Crisis in Georgia Philippe Lefort. The sides discussed issues on cooperation perspectives with EU in the sphere of defense.

Ohanyan presented the situation on the contact line with Azerbaijan, MOD press service informs Armenian News-NEWS.am. Ohanyan called Lefort’s attention to the activation of Azerbaijani snipers. Lefort assured that he would do everything within its mandate to support the OSCE Minsk group co-chairs’ efforts towards peace.

“EU does not want to see a new war in the South Caucasus. Peace in the Region is in the interests of EU,” EU Special Representative said.

“Armenian side strictly preserves the ceasefire regime according to the principle of peaceful resolution of the Karabakh conflict. However, it responds to the ceasefire violation cases by Azerbaijan only to neutralize the provocations,” Ohanyan stated.
