The number of crimes recorded in Armenia in 2023 increased by 13,816, or 51.4 percent, compared to 2019. Prosecutor General Anna Vardapetyan stated this during the parliamentary debates Tuesday on the crime situation in Armenia.

According to her, the numerical indicators of crimes recorded in Armenia between 2019 and 2024 are as follows: in 2019: 26,850, in 2020: 26,468, in 2021: 30,245, in 2022: 37,626, in 2023: 40,666, and in January-August 2024: 24,567.

"The absolute majority of recorded crimes are crimes of small and medium gravity; that is, they represent a low public danger," assured Vardapetyan.

According to her, although the number of serious crimes has increased by 1,626, or 36.2 percent, between 2019 and 2023 in Armenia, their share in the total number of crimes in the country has decreased by 1.7 percent.
