The Ministry of Defense of Kazakhstan has publicized the government's decision proposing to sign the protocol on making amendments to the agreement on the status of formation of forces and means of the collective security system of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), reports Kazinform.

These amendments are aimed at improving the legal framework for the presence of collective security forces in the territories of the CSTO member states.

Thus, the units of the sending party may be sent to the territory of the receiving party in the following cases: in accordance with the official request of the receiving party, to use the right of collective defense against a threat or armed attack (aggression) against one of the parties, to counteract other challenges and threats to collective security, to prevent (regulate) crisis situations, to eliminate emergency situations, to participate in humanitarian aid and joint exercises, and in case of surprise inspections.

To note, Armenia has frozen its membership in the CSTO.
