Zhoghovurd daily of Armenia writes as follows, in particular: The return of Armenian captives [in Azerbaijan] ahead of [the] COP29 [climate conference to be held soon in the Azerbaijani capital Baku] is expected, perhaps, is also desirable. But the military-political captives will not return to Armenia with them. The military-political captives—the eight Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) Republic officials: Presidents Arkadi Ghukasyan, Bako Sahakyan, Arayik Harutyunyan, former State Minister Ruben Vardanyan, former Defense Army [(DA)] Commander Levon Mnatsakanyan, former DA Deputy Commander Davit Manukyan, National Assembly President Davit Ishkhanyan have refused the services of even a lawyer or an advocate.
Zhoghovurd daily learned that former Foreign Minister David Babayan is the only one—after Ruben Vardanyan—who has an international lawyer. David Babayan's lawyer is the America-based Armenian Jack Hagop Bournazian. And Ruben Vardanyan has the great support of the international community, but that support does not seem to have led to any success so far.
Let us note that there are people from military-political captives who have asked their families to no loner make attempts of contacting them and urged to forget about their existence.
