A resident of France was able to earn more than $85 million, betting on the victory of Donald Trump in the U.S. presidential election held on November 5. The Wall Street Journal reports.

It is noted that the anonymous player, who made bets under the pseudonym Theo, made four accounts in the bookmaker agency Polymarket. He admitted to having more accounts on the platform, but hid it for security reasons. He managed to place bets totaling more than $70 million across all his accounts during the campaign and directly on Election Day.

“I'm one of a kind. I'm [already] quite rich and was confident in my analysis,” he told the newspaper. According to the punter, he started betting on Trump back in the summer as he studied US polling data and concluded that the Republican was highly likely to win. He was also not confused by the poll numbers, which indicated that “the electoral struggle has reached a stalemate”.

At the same time, the publication, which failed to verify the identity of the player, did not rule out his ties to any political organization supporting Trump, but the player assured that he only sought to “make money and did not try to manipulate the election.”
