Former NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg has said that Ukraine's temporary territorial concessions could be a step towards ending the war with Russia. In his opinion, such a measure does not mean that Kyiv will give up these territories for good.

“It is important that Ukraine receives security guarantees in return. This could be NATO membership or other measures to arm and support the Ukrainians,” Stoltenberg said in an interview with Table.Briefings.

The former NATO chief supported Zelenskyy's demand not to cede any territories to Russia in case of a cease-fire, but stressed that it was difficult to implement in practice, Bild reported.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky earlier said that a ceasefire along the front line is possible if Ukraine receives guarantees of NATO membership within internationally recognized borders. According to Zelenskyy, the restoration of the country's full territorial integrity is possible in the future through diplomatic means.
