South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol declared “martial law emergency” on Tuesday, accusing the country's opposition of controlling parliament, sympathizing with North Korea and paralyzing the government with anti-state activities, the Associated Press reported.
He called the move crucial to protect the country's constitutional order.
Since taking office in 2022, Yoon has been trying to push his programs in the opposition-controlled parliament, the media outlet said.
