The Washington administration expects that the democratic process in South Korea will prevail. This was noted by US Secretary of State Antony Blinken in a telephone conversation with Cho Tae-yul, the Republic of Korea (ROK) Foreign Minister.
Blinken " expressed deep concerns about the declaration of martial law in the ROK and welcomed the lifting of martial law," as per a readout Thursday attributable to US State Department Spokesperson Matthew Miller.
Also, the US Secretary of State "conveyed his confidence in the democratic resilience of the ROK during this period."
Miller added that Blinken "expects the ROK’s democratic process to prevail."
