YEREVAN. – Turkish Minister for EU Affairs Egemen Bagis was unable to overcome the complex of nomad, expert of the Turkish studies Ruben Melkonyan said commenting on Bagis’ words on the Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan’s statement in Marseille, France. 

The expert stated that the Turkish policy have been displaying a nervous behavior recently. Thus, Turkey is not ready to normalize the relations with Armenia in reality.

According to him, Turkish FM has a hard mission to fulfill, which is to announce that Ankara is ready to normalize the relations with Armenia. Ankara’s ‘old song’, which states that Armenian-Turkish relations cannot develop unless Karabakh conflict is settled, is outdated. It may be noted that Turkish imitative policy regarding Armenia failed. While various high ranking Turkish official express their indignation.

The issue is not on personal relations, which proves nervousness of Turkish political elite. Besides, Armenia should respond officially to the statement.

“Turkey is far away from European values. It has no intentions to normalize relations with Armenia. It is based on the statements by Bagis, which proves that Turkey is proud of closing borders with Armenia and keeping its people in miserable conditions,” Melkonyan concluded.
