The Central Election Commission (CEC) of Belarus has received the documents needed to register incumbent President Aleksandr Lukashenko as a candidate for the presidency of the country, reports BelTA news agency.

Chairman of the Federation of Trade Unions of Belarus, Yuri Senko, used a letter of attorney to submit the aforesaid documents to the CEC.

The presidential elections of Belarus are slated for January 26, 2025.

To note, the leaders of several political parties and an entrepreneur also have submitted their documents in order to be registered as presidential candidates at the Belarusian CEC.
