Taiwan's military has recorded 12 Chinese aircraft and 5 ships approaching the island in the past 24 hours, Taiwan's Ministry of National Defense stated.

"12 PLA aircraft and 5 PLAN vessels operating around Taiwan were detected up until 6 a.m. (UTC+8) today. 5 of the aircraft crossed the median line and entered Taiwan’s southwestern ADIZ. We have monitored the situation and responded accordingly," Taiwan's defense ministry wrote Friday on X.

Taiwan has been governed by its own administration since 1949. Beijing, however, considers Taiwan one of China's provinces.
