Ukraine is doing everything possible to end the war this year, President Volodymyr Zelensky said during a speech at the meeting in the format “Ramstein”, reports RBC-Ukraine.
“I'm doing everything possible so that this year this war ended honorably for Ukraine and all of Europe. And I know that I can count on your support. We should all remember that ending the war is our common goal - ours, not Russia's, this is what Ukrainians, Europeans, Americans and many of our global partners want,” Zelensky said.
According to him, countries such as Japan, Saudi Arabia and Argentina also wish peace for Ukraine.
According to Zelensky, North Korea is learning modern warfare from the example of Russia.
“They don't value their people, they are losing them - 4,000 as of today. But Pyongyang is getting cheap experience to re-export the war, perhaps there in the Indo-Pacific region,” the Ukrainian president said.
He also called for continued pressure on Russia.
“This is what ensures that our soldiers get the weapons they need. That's what the sanctions are for. And I ask all our partners - especially the US and the EU - to turn up the heat on Russia's energy sector,” Zelensky said.
He believes that sanctions should be imposed against all elements of the Russian energy sector, and the Russian tanker fleet should be stopped.
Today, January 9, was the Ramstein meeting, which was last attended by U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin.
At this meeting, the US announced a new military aid package for Ukraine. Its amount is 500 million dollars.
At the same time, Polish Defense Minister Vladyslav Kosyniak-Kamysh said that such a meeting in the Ramstein format might be the last one.
