Zhoghovurd newspaper of the Republic of Armenia (RA) writes as follows, in particular: Zhoghovurd daily learned that the European Court of Human Rights has received the petition of Anna Danibekyan, the judge who examined the case of [Armenian ex-President] Robert Kocharyan and was dismissed.
We were also informed that the former judge has received a letter that the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) will examine the case of Danibekyan, whose powers have been suspended, in order of priority.
As it is known, the RA Supreme Judicial Council [(SJC)] terminated the powers of Judge Anna Danibekyan of the General Court of First Instance of Yerevan on the basis of a significant disciplinary violation. The SJC chairman, without hiding his true goals, announced that Danibekyan is being removed because of the "most important" court case of our time, as, in their opinion, she deliberately delayed the trial in the case of Robert Kocharyan and [businesswoman] Silva Hambardzumyan until the statute of limitations expires.
According to former Minister of Justice Grigor Minasyan, Danibekyan violated the judge's rules of conduct with gross negligence, as a result of which the defendants, including Robert Kocharyan, were released from liability on the basis of the expiration of the statute of limitations for the crime.
