Belarus will not open polling stations abroad for the upcoming presidential election. Igor Karpenko, Chairman of the Central Election Commission of Belarus, told this to a press conference Friday.

"Belarus, as you know, does not open polling stations abroad. This is due to the lack of security measures in those areas which were previously established on the territory of other countries, as well as the reduction of the number of diplomatic corps employees in some countries," said Karpenko.

He expressed hope, however, that the neighboring countries of Belarus will not create obstacles for the Belarusian citizens to cross the border into Belarus to exercise their electoral rights.
