Alexander Lukashenko, who has led Belarus since 1994, has been re-elected for a seventh term as president.

According to preliminary data from the Central Election Commission of Belarus, 86.82% of Belarusians voted for Lukashenko. The voter turnout in the elections was 85.7%.

The presidential elections in Belarus were held on Sunday. In addition to Lukashenko, four other candidates ran in them. The chairman of the Liberal Democratic Party of Belarus, Oleg Gaidukevich, received 2.02% of the vote, entrepreneur Hanna Kanapatskaya got 1.86%, the first secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Belarus, Sergei Sirankov, garnered 3.21%, and the chairman of the Republican Party of Labour and Justice, Alexander Khizhnyak, received 1.74%.

A total of 3.6% of Belarusians voted against all candidates.

The elections were held without the presence of Western observers, as well as the opening of polling stations abroad.
