My recent statement—which caused a stir—about the Armenian Genocide is precisely about that, nonetheless, we must understand that in the end there were forces whose key tool for controlling us is the following: make it impossible for us to live independently in our environment, so that we are controllable. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said this at a meeting with representatives of the Armenian community in the US.

“By the way, I want to tell you honestly, I would like this conclusion that I myself were smart enough to draw this conclusion from various books, textbooks, etc., from what I read and learned. Unfortunately, I am not smart enough to figure out this information on my own. I figured this out during my time as prime minister during various meetings, solving various practical problems and listening to various situations and conversations and sentences that express ways of thinking,” he noted.

“I have the same conversation with most various leaders, who say the following that, ‘You know what? Everyone has their role in this world, your role is the martyr.’ People, why are you mixed up? We [i.e. Armenians] understand that we were martyred, that in many cases you helped us to be martyred. But we don't want to be martyrs anymore, we want to be ordinary living people. We want ordinary people in Armenia to live in an ordinary way, and their role should not be that they should be representatives of a martyred people. I believe this is a very important issue, and we should discuss it at the national level, and I do not want it to be our historical mission, our role, our place in this world. As long as we have the opportunity, we will fight against being a martyr. This is the publicistic change that is taking place, and I consider turning this publicism into reality a historical mission. We will fight to fulfill this mission,” Pashinyan said.
