US President Donald Trump will sign an executive order on Thursday to sanction the International Criminal Court (ICC), accusing it of wrongdoing against the US and Israel, according to a copy of a fact sheet supporting the order obtained by NBC News.

The order would include both financial sanctions and visa restrictions on unspecified ICC officials and their family members found to have aided ICC investigations against U.S. citizens or allies.

The expected signing of the order appears to be linked to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's visit to Washington.

Last November, the ICC sparked a bipartisan reaction in Washington by issuing arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, former Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, and several Hamas leaders at the same time. The Trump administration's ruling claimed it created a “shameful moral equivalency.”

The ICC said there was reason to believe that Netanyahu and Gallant used “starvation as a method of warfare” by restricting humanitarian aid and deliberately targeting civilians during Israel's campaign in Gaza - accusations Israeli officials have dismissed as false and anti-Semitic.
