French MPs will discuss the bill criminalizing Armenian Genocide denial despite threats voiced by Ankara and negative consequences for French-Turkish relations, Le Monde writes referring to Reuters.

Minister for relationship with Parliament Patrick Ollier confirmed the reports on Tuesday, while French Foreign Ministry warned Ankara against any response measures in the field of trade. Socialist MPs said they would vote for the bill introduced by Valerie Boyer.

In response to Turkey’s threats, representative of the French foreign office said that Turkey must remember about international rules in the field of economy and commerce.

“Turkey is a WTO member and is connected to the Union through Customs Union. These commitments suppose not discriminatory attitude towards EU companies,” Bernard Valero told a briefing on Tuesday.

As regards possible recalling of Turkish envoy from Paris, he called on Ankara to take into consideration advantages of the dialogue. He stressed France’s commitment to develop relations with Turkey in all the fields.

French President’s office has not commented on the issue yet.
