PARIS. - Union for a Popular Movement (UMP) MP Valerie Boyer who will defend on Thursday the bill penalizing denial of the Armenian Genocide, stated that she is ‘shocked by the level of Turks’ response,’ Le Point newspaper reports quoting France-Presse agency.

“The Turks are practicing the diplomacy of threat. It is particularly shocking,” Boyer told AFP adding that the diplomacy is already archaic and such intervention may only accelerate decision of the Parliament.

“The bill is the culmination of a long law-making process, which started in 2001 by recognizing the Genocide. We need to move further and to penalize denial of the Genocide,” she stated adding that French MPs’ decision is inspired by the human rights and is not directed against a special state.

French National Assembly will consider the bill penalizing the denial of genocides, including the Armenian Genocide, on Thursday.
