Western intelligence services and politicians fear that the talks between Russia and the US could lead to the termination of the presence of American troops in most of Europe, informs Bild newspaper of Germany.

“According to our information, this refers to [Russian President Vladimir] Putin’s demands from 2021, namely to pull out US troops from all NATO countries that joined the alliance after 1990,” a security representative for Eastern Europe told Bild.

At the same time, Italy is also preparing for the possible withdrawal of US troops from unrecognized Kosovo.

According to the United States European Command (EUCOM), there are currently about 78,000 American soldiers stationed in Europe.
