The AFP agency published the reaction of European leaders to the scandalous negotiations between the presidents of the U.S. and Ukraine at the White House.

The heads of the European Union, Ursula von der Leyen and António Costa, assured Zelensky that he “will never be alone.”
“Be strong, brave, fearless,” wrote the Presidents of the European Commission and the European Council in a joint statement on social media, addressing Zelensky.
“We will continue to work with you for a just and lasting peace,” they added.

French President Emmanuel Macron stated that Russia is the “aggressor” in the war and that “we were right to help Ukraine and impose sanctions against Russia three years ago and continue to do so.”
The French president went even further, declaring that “if anyone is playing with World War III, it is Vladimir Putin,” referring to Trump’s accusations against Zelensky.

The likely next Chancellor of Germany, Friedrich Merz, assured Zelensky of his support, saying: “We must never confuse the aggressor and the victim in this terrible war.”
The outgoing Chancellor Olaf Scholz also expressed support for Ukraine, as did Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock, who added that “Kyiv’s pursuit of peace and security is our cause.”

Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni called on the U.S., Europe, and their allies to come together because of the war in Ukraine.
“An urgent summit is needed... to frankly discuss how we intend to address the major challenges of today, starting with Ukraine,” she stressed.

“The Netherlands’ support for Ukraine remains unchanged. Especially now,” stated Dutch Prime Minister Dick Schoof on X, adding that “we want a lasting peace and an end to the aggressive war started by Russia.”

Poland also assured Kyiv of its support. “Dear Ukrainian friends, you are not alone,” wrote Prime Minister Donald Tusk in a message addressed to Zelensky.

Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez stated that his country will support Kyiv. “Ukraine, Spain is with you,” he wrote on X.

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer promised “unwavering support” for Kyiv.
The British Prime Minister stated that he is “doing everything possible to find a path to a lasting peace based on Ukraine’s sovereignty and security.”
