The leaders of the political forces “Batkivshchyna” Yulia Tymoshenko and “European Solidarity” Petro Poroshenko reacted to the publication about secret negotiations with representatives of Trump.

“Ukraine, and President Zelensky clearly said this, is ready for negotiations to end the war under the strong leadership of President Trump.

The Batkivshchyna team is negotiating with all our allies capable of helping to ensure a just peace as soon as possible.

Until then, and I have said this many times, holding any elections in Ukraine is out of the question,” Tymoshenko wrote.

Poroshenko, in turn, wrote: “With our American partners, we are working publicly and transparently to maintain bipartisan support for Ukraine. We have repeatedly offered to coordinate these meetings with the authorities, even inviting the ambassador. We have also spoken repeatedly and publicly about the lack of communication between the government and the American administration, which poses a risk to the state.

The essence of our discussions with American representatives has always been based on two principles: security first and peace through strength. In particular, this means weapons, intelligence, sanctions against Russia, financial support, democratic sustainability (freedom and democracy) and transatlantic unity.

Our team has always been and remains strongly opposed to holding elections during wartime. Unlike a government that diverts funds from the army to buy votes and uses unconstitutional and extrajudicial sanctions to eliminate political opponents, which amounts to a politically motivated prosecution and election preparation scenario.

We have said and still say that elections can only take place after a ceasefire and the signing of a peace agreement with security guarantees for Ukraine. Then martial law will obviously end. No later than 180 days after that, free and democratic elections should be held to ensure the will of the people and the trust of the free world,” he wrote.
