The appearance of European military contingents in Ukraine may aggravate the situation in the region, Secretary General of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) Imangali Tasmagambetov has said.

“So far, these (European) contingents are not officially present there. The reason is that this can create a dangerous situation on the scale of the region,” Tasmagambetov said, Interfax reported.

He said that if they are sent to Ukraine, the CSTO will be ready to offer different options for assistance.

Tasmagambetov believes that the population of European countries will not approve of the government's decision to send a military contingent to Ukraine.
