The Israeli army (IDF) said it carried out an airstrike Tuesday against two artillery installations in southern Syria near the border set by a 1974 ceasefire agreement, AFP reported.

“Some time ago, two cannons in southern Syria that pose a threat to the State of Israel were struck by the IDF in the Khan Arnabah area in southern Syria,” the IDF said in a statement.

“The IDF will not allow a military threat from southern Syria and will act against this threat,” the Israeli army added.

Khan Arnaba is on the edge of the demilitarized buffer zone that had long separated Israeli and Syrian forces until Israeli troops stationed there after the ouster of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad in December.

Tuesday's strike came a day after the Israeli military said it had struck military installations in southern Syria.

According to the Syrian media SANA, three civilians were killed as a result of airstrikes carried out by Israeli aircraft on the outskirts of the city of Daraa.

Recall that Israel violated the ceasefire in Gaza, striking also on the Palestinian enclave, victimizing at least 404 people.
