Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba does not plan to take any retaliatory measures in response to US tariffs and is committed to resolving this matter through persistent negotiations, Japanese government sources said, reports Kyodo News.

In this regard, Prime Minister Ishiba held the first meeting of the joint staff at his residence in Tokyo to develop measures related to the increased trade tariffs imposed by the US on Japan. Also, he appointed economy minister Ryosei Akazawa as the Japanese government's special representative for negotiations with Washington.

At the staff meeting attended by all members of the Japanese Cabinet, the prime minister emphasized that he will seek to review through diplomatic means the increased tariffs imposed by the US on all Japanese exports.
