A Turkish mobster, a critic of Erdogan, has died in a German brothel - the second such case in two months, Bild reports.

Shortly after his release from prison, Turkish mobster Mohammed Yakut headed to a brothel in the town of Kastrop-Rauksel (North Rhine-Westphalia) - and died suddenly there that night. This is the second death of a Turkish mafia authority in recent weeks.

Yakut was one of the underworld figures who criticized Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Turkey's ruling party. Earlier in May, another mobster, Cemil Yonal, was shot dead in the Netherlands.

He was an outspoken critic of Erdogan and claimed to have been friends with another mobster, Sedat Peker, for 25 years. Peker gained notoriety for a YouTube video where he accused the Turkish government of corruption and contract killings. He now lives in exile.

Yakut he fled Turkey after publishing critical videos in 2023. Turkish prosecutors issued an international arrest warrant for defamation and other crimes. In exile, he continued to threaten new revelations and met with other mobsters, including Cemil Yonal, who also openly threatened Erdogan.

On May 1, 2025, Yonal met with a buddy at a hotel restaurant near The Hague, Netherlands, to discuss legal support for Yakut. Suddenly, a man with a gun entered the restaurant and shot Yonal several times at close range - killing him right in the midst of the diners.
