French FM Bernard Kouchner considers Turkey must recognize the Armenian Genocide.

During the interview given to Algérie-Focus he mentioned that currently the bill criminalizing genocides carries a pre-electoral character.

“It would be better if there were a chance to manage without that bill,” he mentioned.

Besides, Kouchner pointed out there is distortion of historic facts.  

“Denial policy is a crime,” he mentioned stressing that no one has the right to say the Armenian Genocide did not happen.

“I think that Turkey is wrong in not opening all the archives, as we did when I was FM,” Kouchner said.

The former minister considers that it is important for Turkey to be mature just as some Turkish reporters, writers and professors are.

Kouchner also mentioned that this chapter of history cannot be turned over neither for the Armenians, nor for the Turks, and especially not for the families of Genocide victims until justice is restored.

“Truth and justice-this is my answer,” he concluded.
