Yerevan and Naples have signed an agreement on friendship and cooperation, Yerevan Mayor Tigran Avinyan announced on his social media page.

“Naples is a city much closer to us Armenians than it might seem. In the historic center of the city, there is a street named San Gregorio Armeno, dedicated to Saint Gregory the Illuminator, whose relics are kept in the church of the same name. This is a beautiful symbol of the connection between our peoples, with a history spanning centuries.

In 2023, when I spoke with my Naples counterpart, Mayor Gaetano Manfredi, about establishing a direct flight between our cities, we discussed this idea here in Yerevan as well, and today I am happy to say that it has become a reality.

Since October, a direct Yerevan–Naples flight has started, bringing our cities even closer. With the signed agreement, we will have new initiatives with our colleagues in Naples,” Avinyan wrote.
