On October 20, Ruben Mkhitaryan, a lawyer and member of the “Our Way” popular movement, who was unlawfully detained in Gyumri, was charged under two articles of the RA Criminal Code: Article 327, Part 1 (participation in mass riots) and Article 486, Part 2, Point 1 (interference with the administration of justice or the investigation of a case by a group of persons acting in concert). This was stated in a declaration by the “Our Way” movement.

“An analysis of the content of the cited articles shows that Ruben has been unlawfully charged under an article directly related to the performance of a lawyer’s professional duties. Ruben has now been transferred from the detention facility to the RA Investigative Committee for questioning, after which the investigative body will most likely apply to the court to impose a preventive measure against him,” the statement says.
