Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan on Friday received a delegation from the Saudi Arabia-Armenia Parliamentary Friendship Group, headed by the group’s chairman, Ali bin Mohammed Alshahrani.
In his remarks, Mirzoyan stated: “It was exactly two years ago, in November 2023, that we established diplomatic relations with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and this was not merely a formal act of establishing the relations – we laid the foundation for strong relations,” informs the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia.
Welcoming the visit, the FM emphasized that Armenia attaches great importance to fully realizing the potential for cooperation in all areas of mutual interest.
Ali bin Mohammed Alshahrani, for his part, expressed gratitude for the warm hospitality extended during this first official visit from Saudi Arabia to Armenia, voicing confidence that the visit will contribute to the development of friendship and cooperation between the two countries.
The interlocutors highlighted their mutual interest in implementing concrete initiatives, including fostering people-to-people contacts and tourism, promoting business ties, cooperation in information technology, and other domains.
Regional developments were also discussed during the meeting. FM Mirzoyan noted that Armenia highly values Saudi Arabia’s position in support of the established peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
